Location: West Hollywood,
CA Produced by Mixografia, and permanently
installed on the facade of the Remba Gallery, Borofsky's "Turtle Clock"
is a working timepiece measuring 15 feet by 40 feet by 1 feet. The
sculpture consists of 72 interlocking copper turtles - 12 rows of 6
turtles each with the first row on the left being 1 o'clock, the next
row 2 o'clock, and so on. The rows of turtles mark the hours by moving
their heads in and out of their shells (motorized by a digitally
controlled compressed air system). |
